The root cause of back & neck pain

The root cause of back & neck pain

The spine keeps your body erect and acts as the central axis for the movements of your upper body. It is a complex structure made up of vertebrae (Asthi), arranged linearly one above the other with cushioning cartilage in between, supported by muscles, ligaments, and tendons (Mamsa, Snayu, and Kandara), and encasing the spinal cord and nerves (Majja) that run through it.

Strong digestion (Agni) builds quality bone and nerve tissue, while balanced Vata and Kapha govern smooth movement, stability, and natural lubrication between the vertebrae. When these stay in balance, your back and neck stay strong, mobile, and pain-free.

A connected system in balance

When the balance is disturbed

When Vata and Kapha fall out of balance, Agni weakens and the spine begins to deteriorate. Triggers range from prolonged sitting, poor posture, and stress to age, genetics, and wrong movement patterns. Over time, the vertebrae lose nourishment, lubrication reduces, and pain, stiffness, and restricted mobility set in, what Ayurveda calls Katigata Vata (lower back) and Greevagata Vata (neck).

How it shows up in the body

  • Lumbar / Cervical
  • Spondylosis
  • Sciatica
  • Slipped / Herniated Disc
  • Cervical / Lumbar Radiculopathy
  • Low back pain
  • Paraspinal muscle spasm

How Ayurveda restores it

Lasting relief requires reversing the pathology, repairing structural damage, and restoring the spine. Yuvrit's program addresses this through internal detoxification to rebalance Vata and Kapha and reduce inflammation, alongside external therapies to repair and strengthen the spine.

Since spine conditions present differently, low back pain, stiffness, radiating or burning pain, numbness, or limb pain, our doctors examine each patient thoroughly and customize therapies and medicines accordingly.

Note - Spinal infections and autoimmune conditions like Ankylosing Spondylitis follow a different treatment path, which our doctors will guide you on based on consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How does this program help with back and neck pain?
The program works on the root cause, not just the symptom. It combines classical Ayurvedic therapies that nourish, decompress, and stabilize the spine, calm inflammation, and rebuild surrounding muscle support. Alongside herbal medicines, diet, and lifestyle changes address the internal imbalances that often drive long-term back and neck pain.
Is this a replacement for spinal surgery or injections?
No, this is not a replacement for surgery. For many people with chronic but non-surgical back or neck issues, it can help avoid or delay surgery and reduce dependence on steroid injections or long-term painkillers. For those with advanced damage, it can still help reduce pain, improve mobility, and quality of life, or be done before or after surgery for better outcomes, based on your doctor's guidance.
How long does the program take?
The core therapy phase runs over 7 sessions, spread across weekends, and is designed to fit alongside work. The rebuild phase with medicines, diet, and lifestyle support continues for about a month after. Most people complete the full program in 5–7 weeks.
How is the treatment customized?
In Ayurveda, back and neck pain can come from a primarily Vata imbalance, typically dryness, sharp pain, and stiffness without much swelling, or a Vata-Kapha imbalance, which adds an inflammatory and heavier component (often seen in disc-related issues). Our doctors identify which pattern applies to you during the consultation and prescribe a customized combination of therapies and medicines for your specific condition.
What are Pichu, PPS, and Dhanyamla Dhara?
These are classical Ayurvedic therapies for spine and musculoskeletal care. Pichu, a warm medicated-oil-soaked cotton pad placed over the affected area (neck or lower back) to nourish and calm the tissue. PPS (Patra Pinda Sweda), warm herbal leaf bundles applied along the spine to relieve muscle tension and improve mobility. Dhanyamla Dhara, a continuous warm stream of fermented herbal liquid poured over the back or neck to reduce inflammation, swelling, and heaviness.
 Are the therapies safe?
Yes. All therapies follow classical Ayurvedic protocols, are performed by trained therapists, and are supervised by our doctors. They are non-invasive, gentle, and customized to your condition. Most people find the sessions comfortable and deeply relaxing.
Are the medicines safe to take?
Yes. The medicines are prescribed by our doctors based on your individual condition and are sourced from GMP-certified manufacturers. They are used in appropriate dosages, with the focus on supporting your body's natural healing, not on suppressing symptoms.
Can I continue this program if I'm already on painkillers or other medications?
Yes. Our doctor will review your existing medications during the consultation and guide you on how to combine them safely. The goal is usually to reduce dependence on painkillers gradually as your pain improves, not to stop anything abruptly.
Can I take this program after spinal surgery?
Yes. Many of our patients come to us with residual pain, stiffness, or weakness after spinal surgery. The program can be adapted to support your recovery, reduce post-surgical pain, and rebuild spine function. Discuss timing with our doctor, usually we recommend starting at least 6 weeks after major surgery.
Do I need scans or reports before starting?
Not always, but existing reports, X-rays, MRI scans, blood work, are very helpful for back and neck conditions. Our doctor combines clinical examination with Ayurvedic assessment and will guide you if any additional tests are needed.
Do I need to follow a strict diet?
You'll get a personalized diet plan, but it is practical, not restrictive. It is designed to support digestion, reduce inflammation, and strengthen bone and joint tissue, and can be followed alongside your normal routine and household meals.
Can I do this while working?
Yes. The 7 sessions are spread across weekends and are about an hour each, built around a normal working schedule. The rebuild phase fits easily into a working routine. Our team helps you plan timings comfortably.
What kind of results can I expect, and how soon?
Most people notice a reduction in pain and stiffness during or shortly after the therapy phase. Improvements in mobility, posture, and strength build over the following weeks as the medicines, diet, and routine take effect. Results depend on the underlying condition, age, and how long the pain has been there.
When should I consider starting this program?
The earlier the better. If back or neck pain is starting to affect your sleep, work, or daily routine, or if you've been told you may eventually need spinal surgery or repeated injections, this is a good time to start. Early intervention often gives the best long-term results.
