The root cause of knee pain

The root cause of knee pain

Your knee joints aren't merely an anatomical structure, they're part of a connected functional system, the locomotory system. Bones (Asthi), supported by muscles (Mamsa) and soft tissues (Snayu and Kandara), form the structural component.

Strong digestion (Agni) builds quality joint tissue, while balanced Vata and Kapha govern smooth movement and natural lubrication. When these stay in balance, the joint stays healthy and pain-free.

A connected system in balance

When the balance is disturbed

When certain lifestyle and diet triggers disrupt this balance, affecting digestion and the Vata-Kapha equilibrium, the joint tissues weaken, lubrication reduces, and pain, stiffness, and swelling set in. Ayurveda recognizes this as Sandhigata Vata.

How it shows up in the body

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendinitis
  • Ligament injuries
  • Chondromalacia Patella
  • Cartilage disorder

How Ayurveda restores it

Lasting relief needs two things working together: external physical therapies that strengthen and condition the joint, and internal detoxification that restores digestion and dosha balance. The Yuvrit program is built on exactly this two-part approach.

Patients can present with different symptoms, stiffness, swelling, wear, or pain, based on their specific Vata-Kapha imbalance. Our doctors customize the therapies and medicines accordingly.

Note - Purely autoimmune conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) follow a different treatment path, which our doctors will guide you on based on consultation.

Our Program

A structured, doctor-guided Ayurvedic program designed to address the underlying imbalance, ease pain and stiffness, and rebuild your knees' natural strength and mobility, without surgery.

Frequently asked questions

How does this program help with knee pain?
The program works on the root cause - not just the symptom. It combines therapies that nourish and lubricate the joint, calm inflammation, and rebuild surrounding muscle support. Alongside, herbal medicines, diet, and lifestyle changes address the internal imbalances that often drive long-term joint pain.
Is this a replacement for surgery or knee replacement?
No, this is not a replacement for surgery. For many people with early to moderate knee issues, it can help avoid or delay surgery by improving pain, mobility, and joint health naturally. For those with advanced damage, it can still help reduce pain and improve quality of life, or be done before or after surgery for better outcomes - based on your doctor's guidance.
How long does the program take?
The core therapy phase runs over 7 sessions you can take it across weekends, or consecutive days. The rebuild phase with medicines, diet, and lifestyle support continues for about a month after. Most people complete the full program in 4 - 7 weeks.
What are Janu Basti, Patra Pinda Sweda, and Upanaha?
These are classical Ayurvedic therapies for joint care. Janu Basti is a warm medicated oil pool placed directly over the knee to nourish the joint deeply. Patra Pinda Sweda uses warm herbal leaf bundles to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation around the joint. Upanaha is a medicated herbal paste application that calms pain and supports tissue healing. Together, they target pain, stiffness, and joint health from multiple angles.
Are the therapies safe?
Yes. All therapies follow classical Ayurvedic protocols, are performed by trained therapists, and are supervised by our doctors. They are non-invasive, gentle, and customized to your condition. Most people find the sessions comfortable and relaxing.
Are the medicines safe to take?
Yes. The medicines are prescribed by our doctors based on your individual condition and are sourced from GMP-certified manufacturers. They are used in appropriate dosages, with the focus on supporting your body's natural healing not on suppressing symptoms.
Can I continue this program if I'm already on painkillers or other medications?
Yes. Our doctor will review your existing medications during the consultation and guide you on how to combine them safely. The goal is usually to reduce dependence on painkillers gradually as your pain improves not to stop anything abruptly.
Can I take this program after knee replacement or other surgery?
Yes. Many of our patients come to us with residual pain, stiffness, or weakness even after surgery. The program can be adapted to support your recovery, reduce post-surgical pain, and rebuild joint function. Discuss timing with our doctor usually we recommend starting at least 6 weeks after major surgery.
Do I need scans or reports before starting?
Not always, but existing reports - X-rays, MRIs, blood work are helpful. Our doctor combines clinical examination with Ayurvedic assessment, and will guide you if any additional tests are needed.
Do I need to follow a strict diet?
You'll get a personalized diet plan, but it is practical, not restrictive. It is designed to support digestion, reduce inflammation, and strengthen joint tissue and can be followed alongside your normal routine and household meals.
Can I do this while working?
Yes. The therapy sessions are about an hour each and can be scheduled across weekends or in a short block. The rebuild phase fits easily into a working routine. Our team helps you plan timings around your schedule.
What kind of results can I expect, and how soon?
Most people notice a reduction in pain and stiffness during or shortly after the therapy phase. Improvements in mobility, joint lubrication, and strength build over the following weeks as the medicines, diet, and routine take effect. Results depend on the underlying condition, age, and how long the pain has been there.
When should I consider starting this program?
The earlier the better. If knee pain is starting to affect your walking, stairs, sleep, or daily routine or if you've been told you may eventually need surgery his is a good time to start. Early intervention often gives the best long-term results.
