Abhyanga

Abhyangam or Abhyanga (Ayurvedic oil massage) is one of the most effective and time-tested therapies for promoting physical, mental, and emotional health.

Abhyanga involves the application of warm medicated oils over the entire body using specific massage techniques which not only helps with deep nourishment and detoxification but also rejuvenation of musculoskeletal and nervous systems making it an essential part of Ayurvedic wellness routines.

Abhyanga is highly beneficial for wellness or for individuals suffering from:

  • Vata-related disorders – Dryness, stiffness, joint pain, and poor circulation.

How is Abhyanga done?

Preparation stage: Body is prepared for enhanced absorption and therapeutic effects by applying warm medicated oil based on an individual's dosha imbalance and health condition.

Main Procedure: The therapist applies warm herbal oil generously over the body using long, rhythmic strokes. The pressure, speed, and techniques vary based on the individual’s body type and condition. This lasts about 45 - 60 mins ensuring deep relaxation and nourishment.

Post-Therapy Care & Recovery: A short resting period is advised to allow the oils to deeply penetrate and nourish the body before gently wiping it off. A light, easily
